Biao Fang

Dr. Biao Fang is a Principal Engineer, specialized in advanced wind turbine structure and design. He has been worked in GE Research and GE Renewable Business after finishing his PhD from UIUC in 2001. He was one of lead designers of the GE’s first spaceframe tower. Most recently, he was the PI for the ARPA-E tensioned fabric blade project and Co-PI for NYSERDA/NOWRDC project to develop advanced damper for offshore floating wind turbine platform. Through his career, he has led many advanced structure designs for wind turbines, including hybrid wind tower, composite structure, modular blade, nacelle optimization, additive manufacturing of wind turbine and advanced tower joints.
