Jennifer Nekuda Malik is the MRS Congressional Fellowship Chair and was the 2011-2012 MRS/TMS Congressional Fellow. She served on the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee with Chairman Jeff Bingaman. Prior to her fellowship, Jen earned her PhD in 2008 at the Colorado School of Mines and held research positions at Mines, the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, and Imperial College London. Jen's research focused on new methods and materials for making solar cells and earned both an R&D 100 Award and recognition for Excellence in Technology Transfer. After completing her fellowship, Jen remained with the Energy and Natural Resources Committee until Senator Bingaman retired, then she established herself as an independent consultant with expertise across science, policy, and strategic communications. Jen relocated to Colorado and in 2023 she transitioned into her current role as the Associate Director of Research Communications at the Colorado School of Mines.
