Julie M. Schoenung

Professor Julie M. Schoenung is the Founding Department Chair in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering and the Founding Co-Director of the Lincoln Dynamic Foundation World Institute for Sustainable Development of Materials at the University of California, Irvine. She is a member of the MRS Focus on Sustainability Subcommittee. She received her PhD and MS degrees in materials engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. She is a pioneer in the field of sustainable development of materials with years of experience studying the materials-selection process. Her research currently focuses on electronics and energy systems; high entropy ceramics; and additive manufacturing of ceramics, cermets, composites, and metals.
