
Miriam Deutsch

Dr. Miriam Deutsch is a program director for the Materials Research Science and Engineering Centers (MRSEC) Program in the Division of Materials Research (DMR) at NSF. She has worked in DMR since 2016, first as a rotating program director for the Electronic and Photonic Materials (EPM) program (2.5 years), and after a year off returned to the NSF in 2019 as a permanent program director for the Materials Research Science and Engineering Center (MRSEC) program. Dr. Deutsch is also managing one of the NSF’s recently established Science and Technology Centers. Prior to her position at NSF, she was a Professor in the Department of Physics at the University of Oregon in Eugene, OR. While at the university, Dr. Deutsch’s research areas comprised photonic crystals and other photonic materials, plasmonics, and quantum optics.
