Nicholas A. Kotov

University of Michigan

Nicholas A. Kotov is the Irving Langmuir Distinguished University Professor in Chemical Sciences at the University of Michigan. He is a pioneer of theoretical foundations and practical implementations of complex systems from ‘imperfect’ nanoparticles combining order and disorder. His current research focuses on biomimetic nanocomposites, chiral nanostructures, and graph theoretical representations. Together with his students, Nicholas founded several startups that commercialized self-assembled nanostructures for the energy, healthcare, and automotive industries. He is a Fellow of AAAS and the National Academy of Inventors. He is an advocate of scientists with disabilities, visible and invisible. He can be reached by email at kotov@umich.edu.
