Parag Bhargava

Parag Bhargava is Chair Professor, Technology and Sustainable Development, and Professor, Metallurgical Engineering and Materials Science at IIT Bombay, Powai, Mumbai. Professor Bhargava has been teaching at the IITs for 25 years, and has guided over 27 Ph.Ds and over 100 Master’s theses. His research work primarily focuses on particulate materials including ceramics, powder metallurgy, solar PV devices, and dental materials. He has co-founded three companies, ANTS Ceramics, Metwiz Materials, and Digident LLP, a dental lab. His awards include Young Engineer of the Year from the INAE in 2002; Excellence in Teaching at IIT Bombay in 2008, 2016, 2022, and the CRISP fellowship award at Said Business School, Oxford (UK) in 2015. Professor Bhargava presented a TEDx Talk on Creating, Spreading, and Sustaining Wild Fires in 2015, has developed the Smart Health Baby app for malnutrition, and runs libraries for the underprivileged in slums around IIT campus as part of his Sparks to Fire India project.
