Xin Zhang received his PhD degree in chemical engineering from Texas Tech University in 2014. He is a staff scientist in the Physical Sciences Division at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory. His research focuses on materials synthesis, surface science, and crystal growth – particularly on exploring the nucleation, crystallization, particle aggregation, dissolution, ion/molecular adsorption, and phase transformation of nanocrystals in various environments using advanced in situ and ex situ techniques. He has authored over 120 publications in peer-reviewed journals, written several book chapters, edited two books, and holds 12 patents. He can be reached by email at xin.zhang@pnnl.gov.
