The phase-field method is an efficient and powerful tool to not only model the dynamics of complex three-dimensional microstructure evolution but also to predict the effective properties of microstructures and their temporal evolution, such as, for example, the effective ion conductivities of heterogeneous solid electrolytes. The articles in the June 2024 issue of MRS Bulletin highlight various aspects of the phase-field method and its applications in materials science.
