Materials innovation has played an important role in the development of implantable neuroelectronics. Researchers are exploring biocompatible working systems for reading, triggering, and manipulating neural signals for neuroscience research and to develop devices for medical diagnostics and/or treatment. The past decade in particular has witnessed a golden era of neuroelectronics materials research. Recent developments have also witnessed the emergence of biodegradable and multifunctional devices. This articles in the May issue of MRS Bulletin overview recent advances in neuroelectronics and highlight multifunctionality, biodegradability, and biocompatibility, all enabled by materials innovations.

The talks in this webinar will cover some these topics complementing the articles in the May 2023 issue of MRS Bulletin.
