B19.04 - Self-Assembly of Colloidal Nanoparticles into Chiral Ribbons and Hollow Capsules

Description

We discuss our atomistic and coarse-grained simulations of colloidal nanoparticles into complex superstructures observed in recent experiments. We study the formation of: 1) chiral ribbons from either chiral nanoparticles or nanoparticles forming chiral seeds during their self-assembly in external fields, 2) hollow nanoparticle-based capsules with their sizes dependent on the parameters of the solution. We show how the parameters that control the self-assembly processes of these systems can be revealed through the simulations.
