Mildred S. Dresselhaus is an Institute Professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Recent research activities in the Dresselhaus group that have attracted wide attention are in the areas of carbon nanotubes, bismuth nanowires and low-dimensional thermoelectricity. Her research in materials physics and her public service have been widely recognized. Dresselhaus has received numerous awards, including the National Medal of Science, the Fermi Award, the Kavli Award, the Presidential Medal of Freedom and 30 honorary doctorates worldwide. She is particularly well known for her work on carbon nanotubes and other nanostructured systems.

Dr. Dresselhaus, a giant in the field of materials science,  passed away in February, 2017.  We invite you to view this video in her honor.
