James Gibson PhD

James Gibson received his B.S. in plant and soil sciences in 1996 from West Virginia University, Morgantown. He later earned his M.S. and Ph.D. in 2000 and 2003, respectively, from North Carolina State University, Raleigh. After graduate school he worked as an assistant professor at the West Florida Research and Education Center, University of Florida–Milton Campus teaching production related courses and researching consumer behavior in garden centers and stock plant management, plant growth retardation, and nutrition of tropical perennials. He was awarded the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences Undergraduate Teacher of the Year Award for 2006-2007. In 2007 he became Corporate Manager of Quality Control for Conrad Fafard, Inc., a substrate manufacturing company and nutrient management testing facility in Anderson, South Carolina. Helping growers succeed with their potting mixes, providing technical assistance to clientele, and developing problem solving tools for the industry are some of his responsibilities. Currently, Jamie is Fafard’s R&D Director.
