Paul McIntyre is Rick and Melinda Reed Professor in the School of Engineering, Professor Materials Science and Engineering, and of Photon Science, and Senior Fellow (by courtesy) of the Precourt Institute for Energy at Stanford University. He is currently Director of the Stanford Synchrotron Radiation Lightsource and Associate Lab Director at SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory. McIntyre was Chair of Stanford’s Department of Materials Science and Engineering from 2014 to 2019. Prior to joining Stanford, he was Member of the Technical Staff of the central research laboratories of Texas Instruments, and a Director’s-Funded Postdoctoral Fellow at Los Alamos National Laboratory.

At Stanford, McIntyre leads a research team of graduate students, postdoctoral researchers and adjunct professors who perform basic studies of nanostructured inorganic materials for applications in electronics and energy technologies. He is an author of over 360 scientific publications and an inventor of 10 US patents and has given over 130 invited presentations, plenary talks and tutorial lectures. McIntyre served as an elected member of the Materials Research Society Board of Directors from 2018 through 2020 and was General Chair of the IEEE Semiconductor Interface Specialists Conference in 2019.
