Toshiro Takabatake

Toshiro TAKABATAKE Professor and Dean, Graduate School of Advanced Sciences of Matter, Hiroshima University, Japan He received his PhD from Kyoto University in neclear materials (1980). He stayed at KFA Jülich and Ruhr-Universität Bochum, Germany, as research fellow of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation (1981-1984). He was appointed as research associate (1984) at ISSP, University of Tokyo. He was promoted to associate professor (1988) at FIAS, Hiroshima University, moved to Faculty of Science as a full professor (1995), and joined Graduate School of Advanced Sciences of Matter (1998). He has made original contributions to the synthesis, discovery, and understanding of Kondo semiconductors. His recent work on intermetallic clathrates as for high-efficiency thermoelectric materials has been published in Reviews of Modern Physics 86, 669-716 (2014).
