Christopher Viney earned a BA (1980, 1st Class Honours), and PhD (1983) in Metallurgy & Materials Science at the University of Cambridge. He has held teaching and research appointments at the University of Cambridge (Materials), the University of Washington (Materials, Bioengineering), the University of Oxford (Materials), Heriot-Watt University (Chemistry), and UC Merced (Founding Faculty - Engineering). His interdisciplinary research in biomolecular materials (assembly and processing strategies learned from Nature) and soft materials (modeling, characterizing & controlling molecular order) has produced over 170 publications. Prof. Viney is a Fellow of ASM International, the Institute of Physics, and the Royal Society of Chemistry.
