Hongyou Fan

Hongyou Fan is a Distinguished Member of the Technical Staff at Sandia National Laboratories and a National Laboratory Professor in the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering of University of New Mexico (UNM). He received his BS in chemistry from Jilin University, his MS from the Chinese Academy of Sciences in polymer chemistry and physics, and his PhD from UNM in Chemical Engineering. His research focuses on the fabrication and application of functional nanomaterials for nanoelectronics, nanophotonics, and energy storage.

Major honors and awards include Sandia National Laboratories Laboratory Directed Research and Development Award for Excellence (2007), R&D Magazine R&D 100 Award (2007 & 2010), the Federal Laboratory Consortium Outstanding Technology Development Award (2008 & 2013), The University of New Mexico Outstanding Faculty Mentor Award (2005), and the Asian American Engineer of the Year Award (2012).
