Isao Tanaka

Isao Tanaka is a full professor in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering and the director of ESISM of Kyoto University. He also has a researcher position in JFCC and NIMS-MI2I. He studied metal physics and received B.E. and M.E. from Kyoto University and Ph.D. from Osaka University. He has worked at ISIR, Osaka University and Max Planck Institute for Metals Research in Stuttgart, Germany before he returned to Kyoto University. Recently he is actively working on data-centric approach for materials discovery. Materials of his interests are quite diverse including solid-state ionics, oxide/nitride semiconductors, engineering ceramics, structural metals etc.
