Vikram Deshpande

Prof. Deshpande has made contributions in mechanics of materials, ranging from the design of micro-architectured materials to modelling soft and active materials. His work on micro-architected materials has focused on their mechanical properties including the development of models for their constitutive behaviour that have been encapsulated into commercial finite element programs (e.g. ABAQUS, DYNA). He joined the faculty of Engineering at the University of Cambridge as a lecturer in 2001 and was promoted to a professorship in 2010. He has written in excess of 240 journal articles and serves on the editorial boards of a number of journals in mechanics and biomechanics.
