Joseph M. DeSimone joined Stanford after a 30-year career at the University of North Carolina. He has made significant breakthroughs in green chemistry, medical devices, nanotechnology and 3D printing. He has authored >370 publications (42,000 citations) and is an inventor on >200 patents. He has co-founded several companies including Liquidia (NASDAQ: LQDA) and Carbon. DeSimone received the Presidential Green Chemistry Challenge Award, Heinz Award, Lemelson-MIT Prize, 2019 EY Entrepreneur of the Year Award and National Medal of Technology and Innovation. He is one of only 25 individuals elected to all three U.S. National Academies—the National Academy of Sciences, Medicine, and Engineering.
