Aleksandra Boskovic

Director, Optics and Surface Technologies, Corning Incorporated

Dr. Aleksandra Boskovic was appointed research director, Optics and Surface Technologies Science and Technology in May 2014. In this role, Boskovic is responsible for oversight of research programs aimed at the Telecommunications Business Group as well as Thin Films and Surfaces Research which services growth in Specialty Materials and Display Businesses along with the Emerging Innovations Group.

Boskovic joined Corning in 1997 as a senior scientist at Sullivan Park. During her early career, she made several contributions to the Optical Communications Systems effort in Corning both as an individual contributor and team leader. Boskovic became research manager for Optical Communications Modeling in 2002. In 2006, she became business technology manager, Optical Fiber, and was named business technology director, Optical Fiber in 2007. In 2010, Boskovic relocated to France and held the position of director, Corning European Technology Center, Science & Technology until her return to the United States in 2014.

During her Corning tenure, Boskovic gained considerable technical expertise in the areas of optics, optical networks and systems, and fiber processing in general. She was a key technical contributor to multiple initiatives including the commercial introduction of LEAF® fiber and the development of new products. As business technology director, within the Optical Fiber businesses, she led her team to deliver on several new product and process innovations, such as CPC6i fiber coatings and the ClearCurve® family of products. 

Boskovic is a member of the Optical Society of America and holds a Ph.D. and a M.Sc. in physics from Imperial College, UK; a M.S. in physics from Pontificia Universidade Catolica, Brazil; and a B.S. in physics from Pontificia Universidade Catolica, Brazil.
