Karen Skubal is a program manager in the Department of Energy’s Office of Science. She leads several workforce development programs that place undergraduates and faculty in research or technical projects at the DOE national laboratories. Previously she managed applied research projects for DOE’s Office of Environmental Management and was an assistant professor of environmental engineering at Case Western Reserve University. She earned a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from Northwestern University, a master’s degree in civil engineering from Carnegie Mellon University, and a Ph.D. in environmental engineering from the University of Michigan.
