Dr. Francesco Distante is an R&D engineer in Sulzer Chemtech (based in Switzerland), leading projects dealing with the development of bio-plastics and sustainable technologies. In 2015, he received his M.Sc with honors in Organic Chemistry at University of Pavia (Italy), in collaboration with Leiden University (Netherland). In 2018, he received an international Ph.D in Industrial Chemistry and Chemical Engineering between Politecnico di Milano (Italy) and ETH Zurich (Switzerland) with an experimental thesis in the field of polymer chemistry and drug delivery. In 2019, after being selected by BASF as one of the 25 most talented PhD students in Europe, he won a post-doc fellowship at ETH Zurich, where he pursued his studies on innovative solutions for synthesis and recycling of plastics. Therefore, his dedication and technical skills brought him to join Sulzer in the R&D Dpt. Of bio-based and renewable applications in 2020.
