Luciana is a Ph.D. candidate at the Silklab in the Biomedical engineering department of Tufts University. While pursuing her MSc-BSc in Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Technologies (University of Pavia, Italy), Luciana was research assistant at the University of Cambridge (UK), focusing on constructing functional pharmaceutical materials through supramolecular interactions, and at the Julius-Maximilians-Universität Würzburg (Germany), focusing on techniques to improve the topical absorption of local anesthetics. She also earn a MSc in pharmaceutical regulatory affairs, while working as a regulatory affairs trainee at Farmabios, an Italian pharmaceutical company. At the Silklab, Luciana’s research focuses on biomaterials and their potential applications for innovative drug delivery systems and sensing devices. She works with proteins, mucins, drugs, and nucleic acids, trying to channel new functions through innovative formats.
