Vasiliki is Lecturer in Science Education at the Institute of Education of University College London (UCL) and holds a doctoral degree in Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) from the Centre for Environmental Policy of Imperial College London (ICL). She received a prestigious President’s PhD Scholarship from ICL to fund her research. She also holds a BSc in Biology and an MSc in Science and Environmental Education from the University of Athens. She is an experienced Science Teacher and Environmental Educator and has also served as ESD coordinator and teacher trainer in a large school district in Athens Greece (supervising the ESD projects of more than 150 schools). She has been visiting teacher at the European Learning Laboratory for the Life Sciences (ELLS) of the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) in Germany. She is member of the Impact of Materials on Society (IMOS) and Focus on Sustainability (FoS) Subcommittees of the Materials Research Society and has adapted the IMOS course modules for secondary school implementation and teacher training. She organized the first seminar on the UN Sustainable Development Goals, titled “agents of sustainable community change” in collaboration with the FoS subcommittee in December 2019 in Boston at the Fall MRS meeting and exhibit. She has published her research in Scientific and Educational Journals and is reviewer of publications for conferences and Journals in the fields of Sustainability and Education.

Her specialization is in the integration of Sustainability and the Sustainable Development Goals into Higher Education and School curricula and the assessment of sustainability competences in students. She has many years of experience training educators in sustainability programs, specifically on Climate Change and other food, water and energy issues.
