Emmanouil Kioupakis

Emmanouil (Manos) Kioupakis is an Associate Professor and the Karl F. and Patricia J. Betz Family Faculty Scholar in Materials Science and Engineering at the University of Michigan, where he is also serving as the chair of the PhD program. In his research, he develops and applies first-principles computational method to understand and predict the properties of semiconductors, with a particular focus on ultra-wide-band-gap nitride and oxide materials. He received his PhD degree in Physics from the University of California Berkeley, and his undergraduate degree in Physics from the University of Crete, Greece. He was also a postdoctoral scholar at the University of California, Santa Barbara. He has received the CAREER award by the National Science Foundation, and the 1938E Award by the College of Engineering at the University of Michigan.
