Mitra Taheri is a professor of materials science and engineering and the Director of the Materials Characterization and Processing Center at Johns Hopkins University. Jointly, she is a chief scientist at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory. Her research—focused on the use of microscopy, artificial intelligence/machine learning, and synthesis/processing tools to probe structural, functional, and biological materials in extreme environments—has yielded over 10 patents or invention disclosures and more than 275 publications and proceedings. She received her PhD degree from Carnegie Mellon University in 2005.
