Nancy Dudney

Nancy Dudney is a researcher in the Materials Science and Technology Division at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. She received degrees from the College of William and Mary (BS, Chemistry) and MIT (PhD, Ceramic Materials Science and Engineering) and began work at ORNL as a Wigner Fellow.  Dr. Dudney’s interests include lithium battery materials and architectures, thin film materials and composite electrolytes.  She helped pioneer discovery of Lipon and development of thin-film lithium batteries and continues to utilize thin film processing in her research toward the stabilization of battery interfaces. Dr. Dudney is a Fellow of the Electrochemical Society, Corporate Fellow, and a Battelle Distinguished Inventor.  She has four R&D 100 awards.  Her goal is to promote development of safe and efficient batteries for vehicles and renewable energy.
