Melanie Berkmen

Melanie Berkmen is an Associate Professor of Chemistry & Biochemistry and the Interim Co-Chair, Physical Sciences. Her research group uses a combination of bioinformatics, molecular, cellular and biochemical approaches to provide insight into how the ConB and ConE proteins in Bacillus subtilis function, interact, and localize within the cell to provide a deeper understanding of a major mechanism mediating horizontal gene transfer
