Gopal Rao

Gopal Rao is Editor of MRS Bulletin, the flagship publication of the Materials Research Society (MRS). He received his Ph.D. in 1992 in Materials Engineering from Auburn University working at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL). Subsequently, he was a Post-Doctoral Fellow and a Research Faculty at ORNL. Rao joined MRS in 1997 as Web Science Editor and was appointed Editor of MRS Bulletin in 2011. He has around 30 publications in peer-reviewed journals and a few hundred other publications including reports, research news and other writings. Rao received the Outstanding Alumnus Award in Materials Engineering in 2015 from Auburn University and was elected Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) in 2019.
